According to Youtube Channel Promotion Service Absolutely Yes!… But continue reading to know why there's a BUT

  1. Long Video Ads with more than 5 seconds of playtime:
  2. Short Video Ads of only 5 seconds:

Now the reason why there's a BUT is…whenever people skip an ad, you (as the YouTuber) make only a fraction (more like one-third) of what you should originally make whenever the skip button is not pressed.

And yes YouTube still makes money off Ads if people skip it. Youtube charges the advertisers in this case for impressions…that is why Youtube came up with the 5-second skip feature, this is to allow the video to make an impression at least to the customer without reducing customer satisfaction.

With all being said, YouTube definitely makes a little lesser whenever ads are just skipped.

I hope this helps and didn't get you confused… ask any questions if you feel confused about anything.

When a user skips or closes an ad, the YouTuber does NOT get paid the full amount for the ad meaning youtube will not get paid the full amount either.

Think of it like this:

Private tutoring sessions are £20 for half an hour and £40 for an hour. The tutor receives less for the half-hour slots as less time was spent.

The YouTuber and YouTube earn less if you skip the ad because not as much of it was watched.

When you earn money from a youtube ad, you get 60% (excluding taxes) and youtube gets 40%. If someone skips an ad then you don’t get the full amount meaning youtube won’t either…
